Party statement: Hands off Booker Omole
On the evening of Tuesday the 24th of February, the General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist – Kenya (CPMK) Booker Ngesa Omole was kidnapped by Kenyan police. According to reports from Omole’s comrades, the police were particularly violent when abducting him, and as of the time of writing this statement he is still being held in custody by the Kenyan state without any actual charge or update as to when he will be released. This is but the most recent attack against Kenyan communists and anti-imperialists overseen by the Kenyan security state. In the 20th century, communists and anti-imperialists…
Party Statement: the Bloody Sunday March for Justice
In Derry last Sunday, on the 1st of Feburary, members of Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru and the Welsh Underground Network attended the Bloody Sunday March for Justice in solidarity with our comrades in the Connolly Youth Movement. Thousands turned out to commemorate the brutal murder of 14 civil rights protestors in 1972 at the hands of British occupying forces, and to call for liberation in the present, from occupied Ireland to occupied Palestine. The soldiers responsible have never faced justice for their crimes, instead being sheltered by the British state on behalf of which the massacre was executed. The Party takes…
Party Statement: 81 Years Since Liberation Of Auschwitz
Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, the day of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Soviet Red Army, the beginning of the end of the genocidal plan put in place by the Nazis and her allies. From 1933 until 1945, the Fascist powers of Europe murdered 17 million people, Jewish, Romani, Slavic, and people who the Fascists deemed lesser or who opposed them – communists, trade unionists, disabled people, gay people, and many more. The following is the words of a Red Army soldier, Nikolai Politanov, who aided in the liberation of Auschwitz. “The actual camp appeared like an untidy slaughterhouse.…
Party Statement: On Imperialist Attack On Venezuela
Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru (the Communist Party of Wales) condemns the criminal attack launched by the United States of America against the sovereign Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday the 3rd of January. In a naked act of war and imperialist aggression, the US military bombed both civilian and military areas in and around Venezuela’s capital of Caracas and deployed special forces to kidnap its president, Nicolás Maduro. This is yet another escalation of a decades long campaign of colonial terror aimed at punishing the people of Venezuela for their refusal to submit to Western capital and surrender the natural…

Party Statement: On Imperialist Escalation In The Middle East
Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru (the Communist Party of Wales) condemns the imperialist aggression which stems from the United States of America, and the US-backed Zionist entity ‘israel’. In particular, we condemn the military strikes conducted by the American military, a known enemy to the world, as they attacked Iran. These attacks and escalations will not stop now. The US deepening its involvement will inevitably lead to unimaginable suffering for the people of Iran and the Middle East, to vile human rights violations, to war crimes, supported by their bloody track record in Iraq, in Afghanistan and in US-backed coups elsewhere. It…
Party Statement: On Anti-Trans Ruling
Statement from Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru / the Communist Party of Wales & The Welsh Underground Network The UK Supreme Court’s ruling of April 16th is a disgraceful assault by the British state upon the dignity, humanity, and rights of trans women by denial of legal recognition and protection. This is not the pursuit of justice, it is a calculated escalation of state violence, a ruling soaked in reaction, and an affront to any claim that the British legal system is a neutral arbiter. It is an act of patriarchal authoritarianism, executed under the pretence of safeguarding cis women, while in…
Party Statement: Government Takes Over Scunthorpe, Why Not Port Talbot?
Statement from Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru / the Communist Party of Wales This weekend, the Labour Government in Westminster decided to ‘take over’ the British Steel steelworks in Scunthorpe. They recalled parliament, which is on a break for Easter, and passed emergency legislation to take this action. This is after Jingje, the company who owns British Steel, began the process of closing it down. This is a welcome move for the 3000 workers at the site, their friends, family and community. Whilst this is welcome, the move itself has left a bitter taste in the mouths of the Welsh and the…
Party Statement: Palestine & the 7th of October
Statement from Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru / the Communist Party of Wales October – 2024 Today marks 1 year since the 7th of October, the day Operation Al-Aqsa Flood began. We want to label it what it is, a popular uprising, supported by the Palestinian people, in Gaza, in the West Bank, in the refugee camps, in Zionist occupied land, and in the diaspora. The uprising is also supported by oppressed and imperialised peoples, in all manner of forms. From Ansar Allah in Yemen enforcing a blockade on the Zionist entity, direct military confrontation with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Iran’s missile…
Party Statement: An Update From The Party
Statement from Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru / the Communist Party of Wales July – 2024 Almost a month into our (public) existence, we’ve had many interesting and supportive conversations with comrades across the world, but also some points to clarify on us and our existence. 1. We are the Communist Party of Wales, not ‘a communist party in Wales’ – our entire party is structured within Wales, we are active in every county in Wales and are looking to build from this point. 2. We’re not running any candidates in this election, our prime focus is on organising outside of an…
